Selene is the Moon’s archaic goddess, the Titan, or the daughter of Zeus or Palas in other myths, and sister of Eos and Helios. In both European mythology and traditional Asian folklore, the Moon is associated with a female figure and a love story. She is the confidante of a lover and the confessor of our deepest desires.
Selene was so smitten with Endymion, a handsome shepherd, that she begged Hypnos to grant him perpetual life so that they may be together forever. Selene has visited Hypnos on Mount Latmo every night since, where he awaits her, and they have shared the evenings, illuminating the night sky on her journey.
A full moon night in a little town on the Levantine coast inspired this collection. The light of the moon reflected on the Mediterranean waves, producing a spectral picture. As a consequence, this environment’s picture gets turned into a jewel.
