Pallas Athena was the goddess of strategy, knowledge, and culture, among other things. She was Zeus’s daughter, and legend has it that she arose from a wound on his head. As a result, she was seen as “equal to man,” and her image had a strong effect on the Mediterranean peoples.
The prickly pear, also known as Figuera de Pala in Valencian, is an invasive American shrub that has slowly but surely taken over the Mediterranean ecosystem. This collection was inspired by the invasive nature of prickly pears, as well as a semantic coincidence that isn’t etymological.
