Selene is the Moon’s archaic goddess, the Titan, or in some stories, the daughter of Zeus or Palas, and sister of Eos and Helios. The Moon is connected with a feminine character and a love narrative in both European mythology and traditional Asian folklore. She is a lover’s confidante and confessor of our deepest wants.
Selene was so enamored with a lovely shepherd named Endymion that she begged Hypnos to grant him eternal life so that they may be together forever. Hypnos fulfilled her desire, granting him perpetual slumber, and Selene has visited him on Mount Latmo every night since, where he awaits her, and they have shared the evenings, illuminating the night sky on her trip.
This series was inspired by a full moon night in a little village on the Levantine coast. The moon’s light reflected in the Mediterranean’s seas, creating a stunning, spectral sight. As a result, the image of this environment is transformed into a gem.
