Prometheus is tied to the face of a rocky mountain as Zeus punishes him for stealing fire and giving it to humanity. Chains reflect Prometheus’ incarceration and physical confinement within Prometheus Bound, but they also represent Hephaistos, the Greek deity of blacksmiths and metalworking. Because Hephaistos is the god of fire and Prometheus has stolen Hephaistos’ “flower,” Zeus orders Hephaistos to confine Prometheus to the mountain. However, Hephaistos is also the gods’ blacksmith. He probably creates the strongest “unbreakable” chains in addition to making all of their weapons and armor. Hephaistos, on the other hand, has sympathy for Prometheus and does not want to bound him, but that is not his decision to make. Hephaistos blames his own “talent” as he confines Prometheus to the mountain with his chains. Hephaistos says of his “handiwork” and ability to create metal in fire, “I despise you,” expressing his aversion to both the shackles and his “flower,” fire.
So our chains are not forged to bind you, but to make you feel freer and create your own style. And for us it is a pleasure to continue forging each of our pieces with fire and love, because our intention is to always make you feel better.
Chain yourself only with the idea of being happier every day
